Beyond the Curve began in 2013 through direct work with young people affected by incarceration.
Our early work started with mentorship and guidance while people were still incarcerated and continued as they returned home to their communities. Through that experience, we saw firsthand that release from prison is not the end of the struggle. For many, it marks the beginning of a new set of challenges that must be handled all at once.
People may come home needing identification, housing, employment, transportation, benefits, health care, legal information, or help understanding parole requirements—often without knowing where to start or who to call. Families may want to help but may not know where to begin either.
That experience revealed that even with support and guidance, people can still feel overwhelmed or lost after release. The information and help they need may exist, but it is often scattered and difficult to find when it matters most.
At Beyond the Curve, we understand that frustration. Beyond the Curve is built around practical solutions—helping people returning home after incarceration move through the complex realities of reentry with clearer direction, practical guidance, and easier access to the information and resources they need.
